Our hope is that we will not only make the college admissions and interview process less stressful for our clients and their families, but that our clients would take each next step with a clearer sense of direction and deeper confidence that they were made for a purpose
and have something valuable to offer.
At Next Step Guidance, we operate under the belief that each of our clients has a unique story to tell, one that will make them stand out as more than just a resume or application. Our approach draws out and capitalizes on an individual student's strengths, interests, and life experiences.
Our Team
Chancey Thompson, Founder and College Advisor
With over 18 years of experience working in undergraduate admissions at Vanderbilt University, in college counseling at a premier independent school, and as an independent educational consultant, Chancey loves helping students put their best foot forward as they navigate high school and the college admissions experience.
Chancey resides in Memphis with her husband, two sons, and extremely energetic mini goldendoodle, Freddie. She meets in-person with students on her back porch and virtually with those outside of Memphis.
Jessica, College Search and Essay Specialist
With nearly two decades of experience in university admissions and independent school settings, Jessica has held leadership roles in both college counseling and higher education admissions, including at the University of Georgia and Emory University.
Jessica resides in Atlanta with her husband, daughter, and their Bernese Mountain Dog. She meets virtually with students.
